Visiting Athletic Trainer Information

Welcome

For athletic training needs and concerns related to your upcoming competition, please contact the athletic trainer assigned to that sport.  Please also refer to our Emergency Action Plan for a general overview of our emergency practices, and for venue-specific information.

Dartmouth Sports Medicine provides coverage for home events to many, but not all, of our varsity sports.  If your team is travelling to Dartmouth, you can expect to have an athletic trainer present at the following competitions:

  • Baseball
  • Basketball, Men & Women
  • Field Hockey
  • Football
  • Ice Hockey, Men & Women
  • Lacrosse, Men & Women
  • Rugby, Men & Women (coverage may be contracted out to other local, qualified providers)
  • Soccer, Men & Women
  • Softball
  • Squash
  • Swimming and Diving
  • Tennis, Men & Women (while we strive to cover all tennis matches and tournaments, there are occasions when we do not have the resources to provide coverage of tennis)
  • Track & Field, Indoor and Outdoor, Men & Women
  • Volleyball, Women

For those teams not covered by an athletic trainer at competitions, you can contact the coaching staff of that team for information on what is supplied at the event.  You can find team information on the Dartmouth Athletics website.

Competition Event Coverage

We provide the following supplies onsite for covered games:

  • Water/cups
  • Ice
  • Emergency equipment
  • AED (if not directly on the sideline, an AED will be at a nearby fixed location)

Physician coverage is only provided for Football (Varsity and JV), Men's Ice Hockey, Men's Lacrosse, and Men's and Women's Rugby home events.

Resources do not permit us to have athletic training rooms available for visiting team use, unless arranged in advance before your arrival.  Availability of an athletic training room is not guaranteed.  We will do our best to accommodate your needs.

If you are not sending an athletic trainer with your team, we ask that you notify us before your trip.  If your athletes will need athletic training services, please arrange this at least 24 hours in advance.  A detailed prescription is needed for all modalities.  We ask that your athletes or coaches bring their own supplies.  We do our best to accommodate your athletes' needs as time and space permit.

For those teams not covered by an athletic trainer at competitions, you can contact the coaching staff of that team for information on what is supplied at the event.  You can find team information on the Dartmouth Athletics website.

Practice Coverage

We do not routinely cover visiting team practices.  To ensure that you have everything you need for your practices at Dartmouth, we encourage you to contact the athletic trainer assigned to that sport in advance of your trip.

Dartmouth Teams on the Road

We are unable to send an athletic trainer to away events with the following teams: Crew, Golf, Sailing, Skiing, Squash, Swimming and Diving, and Track and Field.  When time and schedules permit, we do our best to send an athletic trainer to Championship events in these sports.
