Self-Care Guides for Common Problems

Many common health conditions can be managed successfully by an individual without evaluation by a health care provider.  The Dartmouth College Health Service offers a collection of Self-Care Guides to assist you in addressing some of the most frequent health concerns on your own, without having to make an appointment. The Self-Care Guides include:

  • a description of the problem
  • common symptoms
  • treatment guidelines, including any recommended non-prescription medications
  • prevention tips (when applicable), and
  • how to know if you need to make an appointment
