Dartmouth College Health Service is open and here for you.

Fall, Winter, Spring terms: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. EST

Summer term and term breaks: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

The medical clinic is offering telephone, Zoom telehealth and in-person visits for all our enrolled students.  You can schedule most visits on-line through the Health Service portal at http://healthservices.dartmouth.edu.  If your visit type is not available on-line please CALL our appointment office at 603-646-9401 and we will help you get scheduled.  If you reach our voicemail please LEAVE A MESSAGE  with your call back number and we promise to get right back to you.  (Make sure your voicemail is open for business)!

Nursing staff are available after hours, when the clinic is closed, to provide in-person assessments during the fall, winter, and spring terms.  Walk ins will be seen, but it is best to call first, to help manage prolonged wait times. The nurses can be reached at 603-646-9440 and are located on the second floor of Dick's House. 

Nursing phone advice is available 24/7 during the summer, fall, winter and spring terms.

Need help on the weekend?  In addition to the nursing resources above, Dartmouth College Health Service offers a Saturday morning clinic from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for acute concerns.  Appointments are managed through the nursing staff, please call 603-646-9440 to schedule.  

Scheduling Counseling Appointments

Students can schedule a first-time Triage assessment online through the Health Service Portal

Students should call the Counseling Center for assistance if:

  • They have an immediate mental health concern. The on-call counselor is available 24/7/365 by calling 603-646-9442. If after hours, choose option 1.
  • They prefer to schedule by phone.
  • They have previously been seen by a Counseling Center clinician.
  • They are having difficulty finding an appointment time online that works with their schedule.
  • They will not be in NH at the time of the Triage appointment.
  • They will not be enrolled at the time of the Triage appointment.

Crisis Mental Health Services

The Counseling Center offers 24-hour crisis (emergency) mental health services for enrolled students or for those who are concerned about an enrolled student. While most counseling services are scheduled on an appointment basis, there may be crisis situations that require immediate or same-day intervention.

A crisis might involve:

  • Thoughts and/or plans to hurt yourself or someone else
  • Engaging in a behavior that is life-threatening
  • If you have been assaulted, physically or sexually
  • Not being able to eat, sleep, or go to class
  • Concern for a friend

If you are outside of the US, please find crisis phone numbers at the Suicide Prevention, Awareness, and Support website, or call a local hospital. You can also find information at the International Association for Suicide Prevention (IASP). IASP is an online resource that provided phone numbers to crisis crises centers in Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, Oceania and South America.
