Donations From Outside Sources
Sometimes student organizations receive donations from individuals (who might or might not be alumni), alumni classes, or corporations/businesses. If your organization receives a donation check, bring it to Collis 301C for deposit.
On the Deposit Cash or Checks form:
- Write on the form that this is a donation.
- If it is from a Dartmouth alumnus, indicate the person's name and class year.
Also include copies of anything that came with the check, including:
- Letter or note from the donor indicating purpose of donation
- Envelope it was mailed in which shows postmark date
We will process the donation through Gift Recording. The donor will receive an official acknowledgment from Dartmouth which will include tax exempt information for the donor's tax records.
Don't forget to send a thank-you note to the donor.
Do not directly request donations from alumni.
