• Open windows overnight, and use a fan to pull in cool air
• Place a bowl of ice* in front of the fan for extra cooling
• Close blinds or cover windows to keep the sun out during the day, and lower windows to keep cool night air in the room
• Keep lights off as much as possible
• Stay hydrated
• Take a tepid/cool shower before bed
• Run cool water on pressure points (inside of wrists, neck, face, feet)
• Slightly dampen sheets, or put a cool, wet washcloth on face, forehead, and/or pressure points (do this while in front of a fan for extra cooling)
• Avoid strenuous physical activity
• Wear breathable clothing and light colors
• Consider use of sunscreen/hats to avoid burns
• Limit/avoid alcohol (which can disrupt body temperature regulation, disrupt sleep cycles, and contribute to dehydration)
• Seek shaded and/or air-conditioned spaces to spend time in
• Play/splash outside in the rain
*Ice Machine Locations:
Goldstein, Thomas, Byrne: Kitchen off Occom Commons
McLane/Fahey: 1st floor kitchen
Hitchcock: 1st floor kitchen
All the residence halls are open to summer residents, so students don't need special access to go to the air-conditioned Fahey/McLane lounge or air-conditioned spaces in Byrne/Goldstein/Thomas.
There is a cooling room in all the occupied College-owned Greek houses, LLC houses, and Hitchcock on first floors. A/C is provided in in one of their first-floor lounges.

• Cooling blankets/mattress toppers
• Lightweight/breathable bedding (cotton, linen, viscose)
• Personal/small evaporative coolers (which usually use reusable ice packs)
• Cooling bracelets/wrist gel packs
