About the Initiative

Our Beliefs & Mission

The Dartmouth Bystander Initiative is rooted in the firm belief that:

  • Our campus does not tolerate violence.
  • Each of us has an important role to play in ending it.

DBI aims to empower all of us, as a community, to realize that potential. To that end, DBI helps Dartmouth community members build a skillset to take action when facing potential moments of harm and create proactive moments of actions to keep everyone safe. Program attendees will learn to recognize concerning behaviors, identify personal and social barriers that make it difficult to intervene, work with others to form intervention strategies that accommodate various scenarios and individual strengths, and walk away with proactive ways to build a safer community.

Whatever role you can play in keeping Dartmouth safe, DBI is here to help you discover it!

Building a Safer Community. What's Your Role?
