Brian Bowden

Lead Counselor

Brian tries to keep a low profile considering himself to simply be a counselor who specializes in listening. However, he is occasionally pulled into the spotlight for his significant work in higher education prevention, student wellness and reducing high risk drinking with efficient and effective ways of implementing evidence base programs such as BASICS.  Brian's work began in 1990 as an intern in DC with the Department of Education FIPSE where he assisted in the implementation of some of the first nationally organized prevention efforts in higher ed.  He has spent the last decade fine tuning Dartmouth's comprehensive approach to managing and reducing high risk drinking.  For over 30 years Brian has held licenses and certifications as a clinical mental health and substance abuse counselor.
