Housing Information
Every Dartmouth student is randomly assigned a membership to one of the six House Communities. Most incoming first-year students will live on a first-year floor with other members of their House Community.
Living Learning Communities (LLCs) are a way to deepen your engagement at Dartmouth around a particular topic. Regardless of where you live your first year, you will have a House Community membership and will be invited to events and activities with your House Professor. If you choose to live in a Living Learning Community, you will also be invited to activities for that LLC.
Your housing and roommate assignments are made based on information you provide in the lifestyle survey of your housing profile. While the lifestyle survey questions offer only a glimpse into your personality and living preferences, we have found them to be good indicators of roommate compatibility. It is important that you answer these survey questions realistically and honestly.
First-year housing consists of singles, doubles, triples, and quads. The majority of our rooms are carpeted. We do not accept building/location, House Community, or roommate requests from incoming first-year students.
Please note that smoking/vaping is not permitted in any residence halls.
