Apartment Living at Dartmouth

Dartmouth apartments are part of undergraduate housing and cost the same as other Dartmouth residences. Students living in the apartments can belong to different House Communities. Assignments follow the same policies and processes as residence halls. Students must confirm their housing plans each term through the winter and spring housing processes.

Apartment Options

  • Maxwell and Channing Cox: Four-person apartments with private bedrooms and one bathroom.
  • North Park: A limited number of studio apartments with one bathroom and four-person apartments with private bedrooms and two bathrooms.
  • Russo Hall: Mostly 4-bedroom, 2-bathroom apartments and some 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom units.   Each apartment includes private bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room, and storage space.

 Preparing for Apartment Living

Before moving in:

  • Review your housing assignment, floor plan, check-in instructions, and building-access information.
    • You will only have access to your assigned bedroom. If within your roommate group, you have made changes, you must notify Undergraduate Housing so the necessary updates can be made.
  • Coordinate kitchen, cleaning, and living room supplies with your apartment-mates to avoid duplicate purchases.
  • Bring Twin XL bedding, towels, toiletries, laundry supplies, basic kitchen items, starter paper products, and nonscratch cleaning supplies.
  • Wait until you confirm room dimensions and building requirements before purchasing rugs, curtains, tension rods, or specialty cookware.
  • Review Dartmouth's current room care and furnishings policies.
  • Review your Dining Meal Plan options
  • Dartmouth Rental Insurance
  • If you plan to have a vehicle on campus, contact  Transportation Services to secure an "A Lot" sticker.

After arrival, apartment-mates should discuss cleaning responsibilities, shared supplies, guests, noise, and expectations for common areas. Residents of each apartment are responsible for ongoing cleaning of their individual and shared spaces. Dartmouth Custodial Staff will conduct scheduled bathroom cleanings every other week and residents should follow instructions in advance of those cleanings.   Cleaning schedules will be posted.

Move-In and Packages

Arrive only during your assigned move-in window and keep your Dartmouth ID with you. Follow all building-specific traffic and parking instructions. Russo residents should expect limited unloading access and must unload efficiently and relocate vehicles promptly.

Schedule packages to arrive on or after your move-in date. Student packages are delivered to the Hinman Mail Center, not directly to the apartment building.
