COSO Termly Updates

Welcome to Winter Term, 2026!

Welcome to Winter Term, 2026!

Funding Proposals: All funding proposals must be submitted through Dartmouth Groups. Proposals are due Mondays at noon for the Wednesday meeting. For detailed instructions on how to do this, please visit the COSO website. Please review COSO funding guidelines before submitting a proposal. If approved, visit the Treasurer's Corner for information on how to access these funds.

Meeting Schedule: COSO will meet on the following Wednesdays this term: 1/7, 1/14, 1/21, 1/28, 2/4, 2/18, 2/25, 3/4. There will be no COSO meeting on Wednesday, February 11th. COSO does not meet during reading period, finals, or interim. Please plan accordingly.

Big Policy Meeting/Student Organization Training: The Big Policy Meeting will be on Wednesday, January 14th @ 5:30pm in Collis Common Ground. All organizations in attendance will receive $100 in discretionary funds. The training will include an overview of how COSO works, funding guidelines and procedures, and information about how to access and use funds. COSO recommends that all organization Presidents and Treasurers attend the meeting. There is no make-up date or online option.

Campus-Events Listserv Update: We have switched to Google Groups to support the Campus-Events mailing list.

  • Organizations wishing to advertise events and opportunities should now send messages to Campus-Events@dartmouth.edu NOT Campus-Events@listserv.dartmouth.edu Emails to the @listserv.dartmouth.edu address will no longer be approved - but the archive remains available
  • Starting winter term, we will no longer be monitoring the old listserv and will not be notifying groups of messages sent to the old address
  • If you previously received the listserv as a daily digest, that is still possible. You can access your Google Groups settings at groups.google.com
  • Select "My Groups" > Campus-Events
  • Select "my membership settings" from the side bar
  • Under subscription select your preferred email setting.

COSO Guideline Changes for 2025-2026 Academic Year (in effect 25X):

  • Event Guidelines
    • Only clubs classified as "culture-specific" may request funds for community-building events. Community-building events must be directly correlated to the culture of your club.
    • COSO does not fund social events for groups.
  • Guidelines for Advertising, Decorations, Costumes, and Photography
    • Costumes/make-up: $60/person per year. Costumes are defined as a set of clothing worn to represent a specific character, concept, or historical period, typically for entertainment or creative purposes. Costumes would not be worn outside of performances. No group names can be printed on costumes. COSO expects that costumes be kept as the property of the organization and not given to specific individuals. A link to your tracking spreadsheet must be included as part of the funding proposal using this template

All COSO Funding Guidelines can be found on the COSO website
