Priority Numbers & Roommate Groups

Students receive a random, computer-generated priority number. Your specific number is available on DartHub, Housing StarPortal.

Determining Your Room Draw Time Slot

For students enrolled for the fall term who are participating in Room Draw, this number determines their time-slot if they participate in Room Draw. These priority numbers will also determine the order in which housing assignments are made for a full academic year (summer-spring terms). They can be found on the Housing StarPortal.

  • Rising Seniors (Class of 2024 and older): 1 - 1600
  • Rising Juniors (Class of 2025): 1601 - 3200
  • Rising Sophomores (Class of 2026): 3201 - 4800

Priority numbers are nontransferable. You cannot give your number to a friend if you don't plan to use yours for the fall.

Not every priority number is used during fall room draw, so having number 101 doesn't make you the 100th person to select a room.

Keep in mind that even if you are the 200th person in your house, you may not be the 200th person to select a room. House members ahead of you may not be here for the fall or may be opting to live off-campus, in an on-campus/Summit apartment, Greek House or LLC.

Vacancy List

The vacancy list for each Room Draw process is updated the morning of each process. During the Room Draw selection times the list will be automatically updating with changes.

Roommate Groups

Roommate groups are needed whenever two or more students hope to select a room or apartment together. Within the Fall Housing application is a place to create or join a roommate group; the student with the best priority number should create the roommate group and the other member or members will join the group. Students going through the LLC or apartment processes can be part of roommate groups with members of different House Communities. To select a multi-occupancy room within your House Community, you must be part of a roommate group with members of your own House and have a group whose size matches the number of beds within the room (i.e. – two people cannot select a triple but can select a double). Roommate groups can be created, changed and/or dissolved up until a room is selected.

Manipulating the System

Manipulation of the priority number system cheats your fellow students and is considered a serious infraction. Students who are determined to have manipulated the priority number system face penalties including removal from housing and/or other disciplinary action.
