Policy Statement

  • All exits and walkways must be free of snow and ice
  • The exterior and all grounds must be free of litter by 8 a.m. every day 
  • All exits, fire escapes & hallways must always have clear egress 24/7
  • Common areas and bathrooms must be clean
  • Basement must be clear of trash, cleaned and mopped
  • Basement cleaning: walls and ceilings have to be cleaned

Ramifications

If the Housekeeping Inspection Policy is violated, the following sanctions will occur on a termly basis:

  • First offense: If an organization fails a Housekeeping Inspection, the organization will be notified by the Associate Director of Residential Operations and receive a warning. A re-inspection will occur within a 72-hour period. It is an expectation that an organization pass the re-inspection. If the organization fails the re-inspection, a plan of action for keeping the house clean must be submitted to the Associate Director of Residential Operations 
  • Second offense: The organization will be assessed a $200.00 fine
  • Third and subsequent offenses: If the organization fails another Housekeeping Inspection during the term, the organization will automatically receive two weeks of social probation including no alcohol in the common areas

Procedures

Housekeeping Inspections Process

  • Housekeeping inspections will occur from 1:30 PM to 3:30 PM on Monday and Friday afternoons
  • The House Manager or a designated officer for the organization listed after each date should accompany the Associate Director of Residential Operations on the inspections
  • Meet in the basement of North Mass at 1:30 PM
  • Each house manager will go out on two inspections per term
  • Each house will be inspected two or three times per term
  • It is mandatory that you attend inspections
  • It is your responsibility to find a substitute, or switch to another date if you have a conflict on the date you have been assigned
  • There is a $25 fine if you miss an inspection
