Established in Fall 2024, The GLASS Speaker Series brings experts to Dartmouth to discuss important issues with students and staff. This series was established to have challenging but necessary conversations, so that we may learn how we can do better and be better community members.
Fall 2024 Speaker: Byron Hurt, creator of the PBS documentary Hazing.
Topic: "We need to talk about…Hazing"
Winter 2025 Speaker: Jackson Katz, renowned for his writing and activism on gender, race, and violence.
Topic: "We need to talk…about violence against women."
The Residential Liaison Officer Program (initiated January 2025)
Working with Associate Director of the Department of Safety and Security, Thomas O'Donell Jr., GLASS and DoSS established the Resident Liaison Officer Program to build a solid partnership, work together to maintain a safe environment for students, staff, and visitors, and to afford officers with an opportunity to interact with students in a capacity that provides trust building.
The goal of the program is to establish a connection and familiarity between the offices and Greek Life which includes leadership, members, and professional staff.
Our first set of Presidents met with their respective RLO's over lunch/dinner in January 2025 to learn more about the program, but also about the officers themselves. So far, we have received positive feedback in the creation and implementation of this program.
RLO and Chapter Pairings can be found here: Important Contacts & Residential Liaison Officers | Greek Life and Societies
Each Spring and Summer, our Greek Life & Student Societies officers receive comprehensive training over the course of one day. This training is geared towards providing the officers with all the most important information they need to maintain safe and healthy organizations and communities. The GLASS Leadership Summit is a collaboration between GLASS and its many campus partners and allies, such as: the Sexual Violence Prevention Project, Community Standards & Accountability, the Department of Safety and Security, Title IX, and the Student Wellness Center.
In addition to this day-long training, GLASS also provides more specific officer training to the House Managers, Treasurers and Risk Managers of each organization/society.
