Dr. Mishka Murad prefers to be called Dr. Mishka or Dr. Murad (she/her/hers) and is from Pakistan. Before joining the Office of Greek Life, she worked as the Power & Equity Specialist for the Sexual Violence Prevention Project in the Student Wellness Center. She has an academic background in Gender and Women's Studies, and Philosophy. Dr. Murad also has a PhD in International Education and has taught Sociology, Philosophy and Ethics, Public Speaking and Communications, in Pakistan, Thailand, Mexico and the US.
She joined the Office of Greek Life because she was interested in working more closely with students, to understand the student experience, so that some day when she has a role that can influence policies and practices, she might do so in a way that makes sense from a grass roots level. Dr. Murad hopes that her academic background and her lived experiences, as an unaffiliated and international, person of color, can offer a different way of looking at things.
She hopes that the Office can serve as a resource and a means of support, while also serving as place of self-reflection and self-growth for students and staff alike.
When not working, you can find Dr. Murad watching B grade horror movies, hiking and pretending she's good at CrossFit.
