Senior Societies

Tapping Guidelines and Dates

  • Each society must submit to Greek Life a list of Dartmouth students (first and last name plus netid) that they would like to Tap by Monday, January 13th.

  • A junior/senior will be tapped if they have completed the equivalent of six terms of scholastic credit (including transfer students), and is in residence (must have an "R" on their D-plan) in the term during which they are tapped.

  • Tapping can take place between Feb 11th - Feb 15th.

  • Tapping will take place on Tuesday and Friday of the Tapping Week between 6:00 PM Tuesday and 12:00 noon on Saturday.

  • The tappee has until midnight the Saturday of tapping weekend to decide whether or not to join a senior society and, if so, which one.

  • All tappees (single and multiple) must inform the society representatives who tapped them from each organization individually.

  • Shakeouts will only occur for double taps between Sphinx and Dragon. In this instance, Sphinx and Dragon will correspond to organize the shakeout.

  • Each society's representative will submit a final, alphabetized list of new members who accepted taps to the Office of Greek Life by 4pm the Monday following tapping weekend.
