The Time Away process
Connect With College Offices That Support You. We strongly encourage students to contact these offices below to get relevant information about taking time away. We know contacting these offices can be daunting; students should let their undergraduate dean know if they would like assistance.
- Office of Visa and Immigration Services (international students only): discuss possible changes to your visa status and reinstatement. Contact information: 603-646-3474, Visa.and.Immigration.Services@dartmouth.edu
- Campus Billing and DartCard Services: Discuss applicable refunds, DA$H accounts, loans. Contact information: 603-646-3230 Campus.Billing@dartmouth.edu
- Financial Aid Office (recipients of financial aid only): discuss filing deadlines for future financial aid awards, any impact on your eligibility, possible loan repayment schedules. Contact information: 603-646-2451, Financial.Aid@dartmouth.edu

- Athletics Compliance Office, 176A Alumni Gym, 603-646-3824. Varsity student-athletes only: to discuss NCAA eligibility with the Executive Associate AthleticDirector for Administration.
Complete paperwork to request time away. Students who wish to take time away must submit a "Request to Take Time Away" form. For Time Away for Medical Reasons, students should contact the Time Away Office. For all other time away, students should contact their undergraduate dean.
Confirmation Letter. Once your time away is formally processed and approved, you will receive a digital confirmation letter, which also includes information about how to return to your academic program when you are ready.
