UGAR application deadlines

Applications are accepted quarterly for URAD Scholars to conduct research in the following term (due by 11:59pm one week before the last day of classes):

• August 14, 2024 (for fall term research)
• November 12, 2024 (for winter term research)
• February 28, 2025 (for spring term research)
• May 22, 2024 (for summer term research)

Students are notified of their eligibility for the Presidential Scholars program in winter of sophomore year. Applications are due in spring term of sophomore year.

• If you do not receive an email notifying you of your eligibility, then you are not eligible to apply.
• This is a two term program and both terms must be completed during R terms in the junior year ("sophomore summer" through spring of junior year). If this is not feasible due to scheduling constraints, URAD may be a better option.

Application deadline for eligible students in the class of 2027:

• April 30, 2025 deadline (due by 11:59pm)
  • Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason

Applications for leave term research grants are accepted in the 5th week of the term immediately before the research term. 

Deadline for the student application and faculty recommendation form (by 11:59pm). Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason.

• July 24, 2024 (for fall term research) 
• October 16, 2024 (for winter term research)
• February 5, 2025 (for spring term research)
• April 23, 2025 (for summer term research)

Deadlines for submitting the recommendation request form (by 11:59pm). This is one week prior to the application deadline to ensure that your faculty mentor has adequate time to complete the recommendation form.

• July 17, 2024 (for fall term research) 
• October 9, 2024 (for winter term research)
• January 29, 2025 (for spring term research)
• April 16, 2025 (for summer term research)

You may submit the recommendation request form after the request deadline, but this lateness will be taken into consideration in the application review process. The recommendation request form will close 24 hours prior to the application deadline (at 11:59pm) and will not be reopened for any reason.

Applications for honors thesis research grants are accepted in the 6th week of the term immediately before the research term.

Applications for conference funding are accepted on a rolling basis. Students must submit applications at least two weeks before the conference.

Students apply for the Senior Fellowship TWO TERMS prior to the start of the proposed fellowship. The standard cycle is to apply in spring of junior year for Senior Fellowships to begin in fall of senior year.

• Application deadline: April 15 (to begin a fellowship in fall term)
  • Recommendation request deadline: April 1

Students proposing to begin a fellowship in a term other than fall term must contact UGAR to determine the application deadline (which will be TWO TERMS prior to the proposed start of the fellowship).

Note: Students must submit the Senior Fellowship interest form no later than the 6th week of the term, one term prior to the term of application (which would be winter for the standard application cycle)

Students who submit the interest form will be contacted by UGAR to set up an initial meeting about the program and the application process.  If you have not been contacted within a week of submitting the interest form, email UGAR.

Students apply for the Stamps Scholars program in the winter of sophomore year.

Application deadline: February 15

Applications for the MMUF program are accepted each year on February 15.
