The 2019 Meeting of the New England Conference of the Association for Asian Studies will take place at Dartmouth on November 1-2. One theme of the conference is the study of Asian food and beverage from various disciplinary perspectives. In the evening of November 1, a food-related Asian art exhibitition will open in the Hood Museum's new Tseng Family Gallery, and Boston University anthropologist Merry White will deliver a keynote address on food culture in Japan. Four sessions of panels, for which registration will be required, will run from 8:30 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. on November 2. The final session will include a screening of a documnetary film on U.S. POWs who perished as a result of the atomic bombing of Hiroshima.
