Tomorrow is not your typical documentary about saving the planet. With a $1.5 million budget (one-third of it from crowd-funding), this shaggy-dog French road movie has broken box office records at home and abroad. Narrated in English by actress Mélanie Laurent (Inglourious Basterds), it tracks a global quest for workable initiatives in places as disparate as Detroit, Finland, Iceland and India, where people have found ways to move away from dependence on fossil fuels, mobilize grass-roots democracy, grow their own food and inspire children to learn. Tomorrow shows how bottom-up community actions can have a meaningful impact by offering constructive solutions to act on a local level. Showing solutions, telling a feel-good story, cultivating hope…this may be the best way to solve the ecological, economic and social crises that our countries are going through. D: Cyril Dion & Mélanie Laurent, US, 2017, 1h 58m
