Alison May

Assistant Dean & Senior Director, Student Accessibility Services and Academic Skills Center

Alison May '97, Ph.D., returned to Dartmouth in 2019 and serves as Assistant Dean & Senior Director of Student Accessibility Services (SAS) and the Academic Skills Center (ASC). Alison is committed to fostering strong partnerships with faculty, administrators, and other staff in support of enhancing campus-wide access and implementing reasonable accommodations for disabled students. Her focus thus far has been launching a comprehensive accommodation database to more fully serve students and faculty, overhauling SAS' website to clarify processes, and expanding utilization of SAS' A11y Testing Center. Alison has worked in accessibility and/or Student Support Services at four institutions for over 20 years, most recently in AccessibleNU at Northwestern University. She promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and access as campus-wide responsibilities, striving to raise awareness regarding microaggressions and promote universal design for learning. As such, she is thrilled to be part of the Accessible Dartmouth Initiative Leadership Team.
