Ivie Aiwuyo

Ivie Aiwuyo is double majoring in Film and African and African American Studies. She is passionate about the power of film and the arts to serve as a platform for storytelling and social change. She is a Production and Company Management Fellow at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, a Kathy Slattery Phillips Undergraduate Intern (social media of the Athletics Department), social media chair of the NAACP, and Research Assistant at the Black Sound Lab and Yearbook photographer.

 

 

 

Abdul-Kudus Alhassan

Abdul-Kudus Alhassan is a Computer Science major, weaving technology with creativity. Beyond coding, he is a social entrepreneur leveraging tech for positive change. Through his lens, he capture moments that tell stories, bridging the gap between pixels and poetry.

 

 

 

 

Tiana Davis

Tiana Davis is a double major in Sociology and African and African American Studies, and is also minoring in Anthropology. She is on the board of Black Girls Are Magic (BGAM) and the Dartmouth Alliance for Children of Color (DACC). Tiana is also a member of the Xi Lambda Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Tiana enjoys graphic design and drawing, which is why she was selected in designing this year's Black Legacy Month logo, alongside Cam Maddox. 

 

 

 

Anthony Fosu

Anthony Fosu is a member of the Dartmouth Class of 2024 from Keyport, New Jersey. At Dartmouth, he studies Government and minors in Human-Centered Design and Public Policy, focusing on education policy. He is the Senior Class Vice-President for the Class of 2024. As Chief of Staff of the Student Government, he centers his passions on policy, design, and community, increasing accessibility and opportunity for all students. Outside of Student Government, he is the Art Director for the Apologia Journal, President of the Morning Glory Christian fellowship, and President of the Dartmouth Minority Pre-Law Association. He serves as a mentor and President with the NAACP Dartmouth Chapter.

 

 

 

Ajayda Griffith

Ajayda Griffith is a '27 majoring in English and minoring in Government. Ajayda likes musical theater (especially Hamilton) and enjoys performing on stage. She is the co-president of BUTA and loves to entertain others. She can often be found writing plays and short stories for the enjoyment of black viewers. Ajayda is also the Freshman Representative for Aam, the NAACP, and an executive board member for DMPLA.  

 

 

Devontae Lacasse

Devontae Lacasse is a '24 from River Oaks, Texas, majoring in Quantitative Social Science with a focus on identity and the law, with minors in Public Policy and African and African American Studies. An avid saxophone player, he plays for the Dartmouth College Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Dartmouth Chamber Orchestra, and a student-run band called Exit 13. Some notable performances include his opening performance for Black Praxis' "Hood Politics" Show, the MLK Day Vigil, and the Rededication of Rollins Chapel. Devontae is also the Academic Chair of the Afro-American Society, a leader for Dartmouth's Questbridge Chapter, and a Tour Guide for the Dartmouth Admissions Office. In his spare time, he loves watching football, trivia, playing board games, and reading dystopian books.

 

 

Denva Nesbeth, Jr.

Denva Nesbeth, Jr. is a '24 from Brooklyn, New York studying Mathematical Data Science. He is the Vice President of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) chapter on campus as well as the Educational Chair of Men of Color Alliance (MoCA). Denva is a music producer who released four instrumental albums on all platforms: In The Stacks, Reach Higher, Back In The Stacks, and, most recently, Stacks Vol. 3!

Maxwell Simba

Maxwell Simba is a Computer Science and Digital Arts major with a minor in Theater. In addition to his coursework, he is highly involved with the Theater Department on campus. He especially enjoys participating in shows that tell stories by and about Black people and communities. Outside of theater, he pursues landscape, lifestyle, and portrait photography and videography. He is also an aspiring screenwriter, using writing to further his storytelling interests. His various creative pursuits in digital media, photography, theater, and writing allow him to explore diverse narratives and perspectives.

 

 

 

Lexy Piton

Lexy Piton is a '24 studying African and African American Studies and is minoring in Theater. She is also a part of the Dartmouth Rockapellas group. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vachon Raye

Vachon Raye, from Atlanta, Georgia, is an African and African American Studies major. Along with his academics, he is the President of the Theta Zeta Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., and also the President of the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) on campus. He is the CEO of Basement Boy, a Black-Owned clothing brand that hosts an annual fashion show that has over 600 attendees. Basement Boy is based in Atlanta but has a large market in NYC, NY, Washington, D.C., Miami, Florida and has been sited in United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Japan. Soyeya African Dance Troupe 

Soyeya is an African dance troupe whose dance is inspired by artists from Africa, the Caribbean, and other Black Diasporas. We envision a Dartmouth where African dance is integral and a familiar part of the existing dance scene. Through the celebration of our diverse backgrounds, we hope to create a community around this experience.
 

Vievee Francis

Vievee Francis, a Texas native who now lives in New England, is the author of four books of poetry Blue-Tail Fly, Horse in the Dark, Forest Primeval (winner of the Hurston Wright Legacy Award and the 2017 Kingsley-Tufts Award) and her latest book of poetry, 
The Shared World which Publishers Weekly cited as one of the top 5 books of poetry for 2023. She most recently received the 2021 AikenTaylor Award for Modern American Poetry. Her work has appeared in journals, textbooks and anthologies including: Harvard
Review, Yale Review, Poetry, Best American Poetry, SPIN and elsewhere. She is currently an Associate Professor of English and Creative Writing at Dartmouth College.
