ABOUT THE OPAL FUND

OPAL Fund
The OPAL Fund was established to provide support for programs and events that are an expression of OPAL's goals, prioritizing proposals that receive  little to no support from other sources. Funds are a shared resource of OPAL, comprised of contributions from all advising areas and the central budget. Due to the volume of requests throughout the year, OPAL's contributions range from $25 - $500. Funds are limited to the Fall, Winter, and Spring terms.

Funds may not be used for charitable donations, alcohol, personal expenses, or prior expenses.

Please note: Applications are due by 12:00 noon on Fridays and review meetings are scheduled for the following Tuesday.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION

  • OPAL Fund Process
    • Proposals will be reviewed on Tuesdays from 2pm - 3pm. 
    • Proposals are due no later than Friday at noon prior to the Tuesday review meeting. 
    • Event date must be at least 2 weeks after the review meeting.
  • OPAL Fund Eligibility
    • Events or initiatives must be initiated by an undergraduate student or student organization.
    • Recognized student organizations must first apply for funding through their primary funding source (COSO, Greek Life, recognizing office). If additional funding is needed, organizations may apply for the OPAL Fund.
    • Funds may not be used for charitable donations, alcohol, personal expenses, or prior expenses.
    • Events that are already funded through an OPAL Advising Area or OPAL advised organization (ex: AAm, DACC, etc.) can not recieve funding through the OPAL Fund
  • Please have the following information available to complete the application:
    • Event Information (such as title, date/time, location, and how it connects to our OPAL mission)
    • Detailed Budget (as an uploaded spreadsheet)
