BLACK & PAN-AFRICAN STUDENT ADVISING AWARDS

The Fannie Lou Hamer Community Service Award
The Fannie Lou Hamer Community Service award is presented to the graduating student who has shown the utmost dedication to community service, both at Dartmouth College and in the Upper Valley community at large.

2022 Recipient: Maxine Smith

The Nelson "Nels" Armstrong '71 Award
The Nelson "Nels" Armstrong '71 Award is presented to the staff member that has played an instrumental role to students in the class of 2022, shining both in their position and greatly contributing to the community at Dartmouth.

2022 Recipient: Jay Davis

The Kye Allums Award for Athletic Achievement
The Kye Allums Award for Athletic Achievement is named in honor of Kye Allums, the first Division I openly transgender athlete in NCAA sports history, and is presented to graduating student who has broken records and/or barriers in athletics.

2022 Recipient: Ariana Ramsey

The Lorraine Hansberry Award for Performing Arts
The Lorraine Hansberry Award for Performing Arts is presented in honor of Lorraine Hansberry, prominent playwright and social justice advocate, to the graduating student who has shown superb dedication and performance in the arts.

2022 Recipient: Stella Asa

The Ernest Everett Just Award 1907 in Mathematics and the Sciences
The Ernest Everett Just Award 1907 in Mathematics and the Sciences is presented to a graduating student who has proven academic success in the scientific or engineering field, as well as contributed to a supportive community of STEM scholars. 

2022 Recipient: Michael Moyo

The Dr. Reena N. Goldthree Award for Scholarly Excellence and Community Engagement
The Dr. Reena N. Goldthree Award for Scholarly Excellence and Community Engagement, was named after a professor who symbolized and modeled for students the balance of being a consummate scholar as well as being deeply involved in making Dartmouth a better place for Black students on campus through leadership, activism, and engagement. 

2022 Recipient: Professor Craig Sutton

The Zora Neal Hurston Award in Social Sciences
The Zora Neal Hurston Award in Social Sciences is presented to the graduating student who has shown academic prowess in the social sciences.

2022 Recipient: Akiah Watts

The Edward Mitchell 1828 Award
The Edward Mitchell 1828 Award is presented to the graduating student who, throughout their academic career, has exhibited leadership, dedication and spirit in making a significant contribution to the college. 

2022 Recipient: Tinotenda K. Kuretu

The Paul Robeson Award in the Humanities
The Paul Robeson Award in the Humanities is presented to the graduating student who has completed a special, interdisciplinary major, double major in two divisions and who has demonstrated a commitment to academic excellence through their coursework.

2022 Recipient: Awo Adu

The Anna J. Cooper Award
The Anna J. Cooper Award is presented to a faculty member who has shown excellence in their field, and dedication to students' success both inside and outside of the classroom.

2022 Recipient: Professor Monica White Ndounou

Lorna C. Hill '73 Award 
The final award is for our namesake, Lorna C. Hill. With highest honor, this distinguished award is presented to the staff or faculty member that not only excelled in their position at Dartmouth, but also provided invaluable service to the Black community through their support and mentorship of students. 

2022 Recipient: Professor Clifford Campbell

LATINX & CARIBBEAN STUDENT ADVISING AWARDS

The Gloria Anzaldúa Academia Award 
This award serves to recognize a student who has demonstrated academic excellence in their field.

2022 Recipient: Melissa A. Barales-Lopez

José Clemente Orozco Artistic Award
This award goes to a student who is passionate about expressing Latinx and Caribbean culture through art, music, theater etc. It recognizes the pride and dedication this student demonstrated through their artistic expression either at Dartmouth or beyond. 

2022 Recipient: Eduardo Hernandez

The Rigoberta Menchú Service Award 
This award goes to a student who has dedicated themselves to serving others. This award seeks to recognize one selfless individual who has not only shown kindness and concern for the needs of underprivileged communities, but has also taken action in helping some of those communities.

2022 Recipients: Juan Quiñonez Zepeda & Erica M. Bermeo Matute

Bad Bunny Building Bridges Award
This award seeks to recognize a student who has not only been a part of the Dartmouth Latinx and Caribbean Community, but who has also reached out to other communities in effort to increase intersectionality and collaboration across campus. 

2022 Recipients: Jessica Hernandez & Jeremy Rodriguez

Ellen Ochoa STEM Award 
This award seeks to recognize a student who has  been dedicated to their field in STEM through Dartmouth academics, internships, etc and who has served as mentor to other students studying or interested in STEM. 

2022 Recipient: Joselyn S. Lopez Bonilla

Jennicet Gutiérrez Activism Award 
This award serves to recognize a student who has been passionate in advocating for the rights, interests, and resources of  Latinx and Caribbean students on campus. Their advocacy and work has demonstrated their love and care for the Latinx and Caribbean community and the future of students at Dartmouth. 

2022 Recipient: Mariana Peñaloza-Morales

Toussaint Louverture Resiliency Award
It is so important we recognize the strength and resilience we display as marginalized students on this campus. For this award, we want to honor a student who has overcome various difficulties or demonstrated immense strength while at Dartmouth regardless of their level of involvement in the Latinx and Caribbean community.

2022 Recipient: Ashley Garcia

Latinx & Caribbean Community Advocate Award
In recognition of a faculty/staff/community member who has worked to advocate for the Latinx and Caribbean Community. 

2022 Recipient: Ana Mejia

Community Care y Amor Award
In recognition of work making mental health, sexual health, and physical health accessible to all students at Dartmouth, especially in the Latinx Community.

2022 Recipient: Anastasia C. Perez-Ternent

LGBTQIA+ STUDENT ADVISING AWARDS

Beth Robinson '86 Emerging Leader Award
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated clear and decisive leadership in the early stages of their Dartmouth career by endeavoring to enhance the lives of LGBTQIA+ students.

Henry Weiss '60 Award
Awarded to a student who has demonstrated outstanding service to improving the lives of LGBTQIA+ students and enhancing the understanding of LGBTQIA+ members of the Dartmouth community.

Ezekiel Webber '00 Memorial Award
Awarded to a student who has embodied the spirit of passionate and unwavering dedication to queer activism and service to the queer community. This award is given in honor of Zeke's memory.

LGBTQIA+ Community Advocate Award
Awarded to any member or organization(s) of the Dartmouth community who has demonstrated exceptional advocacy on behalf of LGBTQIA+ community members.

Allison Smith '06 Award
Awarded to a student who has an unmistakably infectious spirit and who works tirelessly to build bridges between communities, nurture a sense of place, and demonstrate strong commitment to Dartmouth's growth as an institution, just as Allison Smith did during her time at Dartmouth and throughout her life.

PAN ASIAN STUDENT ADVISING AWARDS

Outstanding Service Award
Awarded to an individual or group in recognition of outstanding service and significant contribution to the Pan Asian community at Dartmouth.

2022 Recipient: Karen Zheng

Community Advocate Award
Awarded to an individual or group who has demonstrated a strong commitment to the advancement of the Pan Asian community at Dartmouth through advocacy and social justice.

2022 Recipient: Dartmouth Asian American Studies Collective (DAASC)

Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month (AAPIHM) Award
This award is given to an individual or group who exemplifies the theme of this year's AAPIHM, "Constellations". Our theme of Constellations explores the ways in which members of the AAPI community form connections with each other and with other marginalized communities. Stars in the sky are not always physically connected to one another but can still form bonds with each other to create constellations.

Awarded to an undergraduate student who displays extraordinary initiative and potential to further positively impact the Pan Asian community at Dartmouth.
