Key Programs

International Student Mentoring and Pre-Orientation Programs (ISMP/ISPOP)

OPAL's International Student Mentoring Program (ISMP) supports incoming international undergraduate students as they transition to Dartmouth College. All incoming international students are matched in groups with an upper-level student mentor. These mentor/mentee groups connect in person during the International Student Pre-Orientation Program (ISPOP), which takes place immediately before New Student Orientation (NSO). ISPOP introduces new international students to Dartmouth resources and opportunities, and allows time for community building within their class cohort. These programs are mandatory for all students on F-1 status.

International Student Welcome/Back Social

The International Student Welcome/Back Social, co-hosted by OPAL and the International Students Association (ISA), is a casual social event at the beginnning of the fall term. Students are invited to connect with other members of the community over refreshments and conversation.

International Friendship Family Program (FFP)

The International Friendship Family Program (FFP) is a unique international student program that matches Dartmouth international students with Upper Valley families to help them form cross-cultural friendships and experience American culture beyond the college campus.

International Student Graduation Reception

The International Student Graduation Reception offers students, their families, and other loved ones an opportunity to celebrate graduating students' accomplishments together before they embark on their next chapter. The event immediately follows Commencement.
