Class of 2027 Student Prizes

Students in the Class of 2027 are eligible for the Katharine Booth Brock Prize and the William S. Churchill Prize.

We will begin accepting nominations for Brock and Churchill Prizes in April, 2024.

The Katharine B. Brock Prize

The Katharine Booth Brock Prize, established in 1974 will be awarded to a member of the Class of 2026 in recognition of loyalty to the ideals of the College, service to the Dartmouth community, and concern for the welfare of others.

Additionally, the prize seeks to recognize outstanding academic achievement, as well as contribution in other areas that indicate the qualities of fairness, respect for duty, and citizenship.

William S. Churchill Prize

The William S. Churchill Prize, established in 1924 in memory of William S. Churchill, Class of 1927, will be awarded to a member of the Class of 2026 whose academic achievement is outstanding and whose record of contribution in other areas indicates those qualities that Mr. Churchill wished to reward, especially those of fairness, respect for duty, and citizenship. Additionally, the prize seeks to recognize loyalty to the ideals of the College, service to the Dartmouth community, and concern for the welfare of others.

About the Awards

The Katharine B. Brock Prize and the William S. Churchill Prize will be awarded to two students in the Class of 2026 who best exemplify the following criteria:

  • Outstanding academic achievement;
  • Service to the Dartmouth community;
  • Loyalty to the ideals of the College;
  • Concern for the welfare of others.

Additionally, recipients should display the qualities that Mr. Churchill wished to reward, especially those of fairness, respect for duty, and committed Dartmouth citizenship.

    Katharine B. Brock Prize

    The Katharine B. Brock Prize was established in 1974 in honor of Katharine B. Brock who was assistant to the Dean of Freshman for twenty-one years, handling the affairs of twenty-one Dartmouth classes. Mrs. Brock was an "unofficial counselor and 'in-loco-matris' for thousands of Dartmouth students" and an adopted member of the Class of 1977.

    The William S. Churchill Prize

    The William S. Churchill Prize was established in 1924 by William A. Churchill in memory of his son, William S. Churchill, who was killed in an automobile accident after only one semester at Dartmouth.
