Amanda Wong (she/her/她) joined OPAL in January 2018 as Program Coordinator for Community and Leadership Development, supporting undergraduate international students as well as women and gender-based programs, and became Assistant Dean of Pluralism and Leadership in September 2021. In September 2023, Amanda was named Assistant Dean and Associate Director, while continuing to oversee International Student Advising and Women and Gender Student Advising.
Born and raised in Seattle and a first-generation college student, Amanda holds a Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Salem Sate University and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Vermont. Her decade of experience as a student affairs practitioner has included completing a NODA Internship as the inaugural Orientation and Student Leader Graduate Intern at Whittier College, serving as a Graduate Resident Director at the University of Denver, and working in the Office of Student and Community Relations at the University of Vermont.
Outside of OPAL, Amanda currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for Outright Vermont and Co-Chair of Convention Programming for the Asian Pacific American Network (APAN) of ACPA – College Student Educators International.
In addition to striving to continuously learn more about justice and equity while fostering and maintaining a supportive campus environment for underserved student populations, Amanda also enjoys wearing wool socks and having foodventures (and has yet to meet a noodle she didn't like).
