Amanda Wong (she/her/她) joined OPAL in January 2018 as Program Coordinator for Community and Leadership Development, supporting undergraduate international students as well as women and gender-based programs. She became Assistant Dean of Pluralism and Leadership in September 2021 and named Associate Director in September 2023, continuing to oversee International Student Advising and Women and Gender Student Advising. Amanda shifted to overseeing Pan Asian Student Advising in August 2024.
Born and raised in Seattle, a first-generation college student, and child of refugees, Amanda holds a Master of Education in Higher Education and Student Affairs from Salem Sate University and a Bachelor of Science in Natural Resources from the University of Vermont. Her decade of experience as a student affairs practitioner includes completing a NODA Internship as the inaugural Orientation and Student Leader Graduate Intern at Whittier College, serving as a Graduate Resident Director at the University of Denver, and working in the Office of Student and Community Relations at the University of Vermont. Outside of OPAL, Amanda currently serves as a Co-Chair of the Board of Directors for Outright Vermont.
In addition to striving to continuously learn more about justice and equity while fostering and maintaining a supportive campus environment for minoritized student populations, Amanda also enjoys wearing wool socks and having foodventures (and has yet to meet a noodle she didn't like).
