The LCHC Kickoff BBQ is both a community welcome and the first event of the Latine & Caribbean Heritage Celebration which coincides with the national Latinx Heritage Month. New and returning students have the opportunity to connect with other students, staff and faculty, enjoy food, music, and engage with the information that will showcase what is to come for the heritage celebration for the Fall term.
Latine & Caribbean Heritage Celebration is a celebration throughout the fall term which seeks to recognize and celebrate the contributions of Latine, Hispanic and Caribbean people around the world. LCHC achieves this through a series of events dedicated to education, awareness and commemoration of Latine, Hispanic and Caribbean heritage, history and culture.
For more information on LCHC and how to participate in planning, Contact Program Coordinator, Lucrecia Calleros.
Caribbean Carnival is a recognition and celebration of the many cultures across the 13 nations and 700 islands of the Caribbean. These events center Caribbean students throughout planning and execution, while introducing the larger Dartmouth community to the food, music, and movement of Caribbean culture through social connection.
During the Latine and Caribbean Graduation & Awards Ceremony, the Latine, Hispanic, and Caribbean community comes together to celebrate the contributions of graduating students. Students offer words of wisdom to fellow students and stoles are placed on students by loved ones to wear during the larger Dartmouth graduation ceremony. The event takes place the Saturday of Commencement weekend.
