Lutheran Campus Ministry & Our Savior Lutheran Church

As a senior this year, my Dartmouth experience and my time at OSLC has come full circle as I welcome the group of freshmen to the congregation. My faith has been strengthened and my worldview has been shaped, thanks to my time here. The congregation here has truly shown me what it means to build a community out of love and generosity, and what we can accomplish as a church to advocate justice and love one another. This church is constantly expanding its walls to include people, and I am glad to have been a part of it for the past four years. – Sharidan Russell '18

Group Description

Whether you are studying, teaching, or working at Dartmouth, or are new to the area, and are seeking out a worshiping community in the Upper Valley, we want you to know that the community of faith at Our Savior Lutheran Church and Campus Ministry looks forward to welcoming you.

Our congregation was founded in 1955 primarily to serve the students, staff, and faculty of Dartmouth College, but from its beginning it invited residents of local communities. We are a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. While our heritage is distinctively Lutheran, probably half of our active participants have come from other Christian traditions, which has deepened our commitment to ecumenism.

Activities

Social ministry and justice, neighbor care, and a global vision are woven into our fabric, whether it involves members carrying suppers to other ailing members, providing Community Dinners at Listen or Hartford Dismas House, welcoming Dartmouth Students Fighting Hunger on Fridays, quilting for Lutheran World Relief, or raising scholarship funds. Our Savior Lutheran Church and Student Center has been a Covenant Congregation with Bread for the World as well as a Reconciled in Christ congregation since 1993.

Students have always been a vital part of the OSLC. We strive to be an important part of student life, a place to help students stay (or become) connected with a faith foundation and provide an emotional refuge from the pressures of college life during a critical, transitional period in many students' lives.
