Whether you are a long-term mindfulness practitioner wishing to deepen your understanding, or someone completely new to mindfulness practice, we invite you to join a week of programming at Dartmouth with ten Buddhist Dharma teachers from Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh's Deer Park Monastery in California. The monastics practicing under the Plum Village tradition of Engaged Buddhism will share practical ways to incorporate mindfulness into the context of our daily lives to cultivate peace, happiness, non-fear, and resilience. They will teach how to nurture compassion, inclusivity, and loving kindness in yourself and the world through mindfulness practice. The week of guided meditation practices, presentations, and discussions are designed to offer a sanctuary for your curiosity and growth.
If you were unable to attend or want a reminder of some of the events that took place during 2025 "Zen and the Art of Mindful Living" residency at Dartmouth, below are videos of some of the events that took place. Enjoy!

Thích Nhất Hạnh recognized the important role that scientists play in the world's wellbeing. He envisioned bringing scientists together to practice mindfulness and reflect on their scientific endeavors to cultivate their happiness and capacity for making positive impacts. In that vision, scientists at any stage of their training and careers will gather to engage in mindfulness practice under the guidance of Zen Buddhist monastics practicing under the Plum Village tradition of Engaged Buddhism. Participants will hear talks by prominent scientists including a keynote address by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn on Sunday evening and have ample opportunities to reflect and discuss how mindfulness may benefit their work, scientific communities, and the world. A vegan lunch will be provided on Monday. Lodging and transportation are not included.
