Through the Hanlon Scholars Program, JJ is engaging in research and experiential learning focused on alternatives to incarceration across the United States. He has also benefited from significant support and mentorship through the Rockefeller Center for Public Policy. In this article, JJ reflects on his experience presenting his research paper at the Law and Society Association's Annual Meeting in Chicago, Illinois.

Tracy Weener '26 is the winner of the North American Taiwan Studies Association 2024 undergraduate paper competition.  Tracy is majoring in Quantitative Social Science (QSS) and began work on her paper, "Conjoint Analysis of the 2024 Taiwanese Presidential Election," in November 2023, spending the winter in Taiwan. As part of the Hanlon Scholars cohort programming, students are encouraged to design research-sharing events in their junior or senior years, working closely with their faculty mentors to share insights with their peers. Gideon Gruel '26 took advantage of this opportunity to organize an event that led him to a fascinating exploration of Roman coins as a unique medium for understanding ancient histories, values, and beliefs. Gideon Gruel '26 has been named a John Robert Lewis Scholar by the Faith and Politics Institute, a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit that carries on the legacy of U.S. Rep. John Lewis, D-Georgia, the late civil rights leader. Click here to read more about his involement in the program. 

For the second time in three years, five undergraduate students have been awarded Goldwater Scholarships in recognition of their outstanding promise in science, technology, engineering, and math research. The competitive awards recognize students' work in the sciences, mathematics, and engineering; commitment to a research career in STEM; and potential for a significant contribution to research in their chosen field.
