Application deadlines and award amounts

Dartmouth ERAS is a two-term, part-time research experience. Applications are only accepted in the fall term as part of the interview and matching process.

Students who are matched through ERAS are paid an hourly wage of $16.25 per hour for 6-10 hours per week, with a limit of 100 hours per term.

URAD applications are accepted each term to engage in research in the following term. Applications are due by 5:00pm one week before the last day of classes:

• August 19, 2026 (for fall term research)
• November 10, 2026 (for winter term research)
• March 2, 2027 (for spring term research)
• May 26, 2027 (for summer term research)

Faculty endorsements must be received no later than one week after the student application deadline.

Award amount: $1,700 stipend paid after the completion of research. 

Students are notified of their eligibility for the Presidential Scholars program in winter of sophomore year. Applications are accepted once a year in spring term of sophomore year. The application is open from the first day of spring term until the deadline.

• If you do not receive an email notifying you of your eligibility, then you are not eligible to apply.
• This is a two term program and both terms must be completed during R terms in the junior year ("sophomore summer" through spring of junior year). If this is not feasible due to scheduling constraints, URAD may be a better option.

Application deadline for eligible students in the class of 2029:

• May 5, 2027 deadline (due by 5:00pm)
  • Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason

Faculty endorsements must be received no later than one week after the student application deadline.

Award amount: $1,700 stipend at the completion of each term of research. 

Applications for leave term research grants are accepted in the middle of the term immediately before the research term. See the specific due dates below.

Deadline for the student application (by 5:00pm). Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason.

• July 29, 2026 (for fall term research) 
• October 14, 2026 (for winter term research)
• February 3, 2027 (for spring term research)
• April 28, 2027 (for summer term research)

• August 5, 2026 (for fall term research)
• October 21, 2026 (for winter term research)
• February 10, 2027 (for spring term research)
• May 5, 2027 (for summer term research)

Other research programs and sources of funding

Award amount: maximum of $6,500. 

You may receive up to two SURFD Conference Grants during your undergraduate career.

Applications for conference funding are reviewed twice each term:

• Friday of week 5 (by 5pm)
• Last day of classes (by 5pm)

Award amount: $1000

Students apply for the Stamps Scholars program in the winter of sophomore year.

Student application deadline: February 15 by 11:59pm

Faculty recommendation deadline: February 22 by 11:59pm

Students are selected for these Scholar Programs during the admissions process to Dartmouth College.

Deadlines for selected scholars and faculty mentors:

• Quarterly Plans (students only): due one week after the last day of classes.
• Phase 2 proposals (spring of sophomore year)
  • Students: Due by Friday of Week 1 of the Spring Term
  • Faculty: Due one week after the student's submission is received; contact the Scholars Programs with questions.

Students apply for the Senior Fellowship TWO TERMS prior to the start of the proposed fellowship. The standard cycle is to apply in spring of junior year for Senior Fellowships to begin in fall of senior year. The application is open on the first day of spring term.

• Application deadline: April 15 by 5pm (to begin a fellowship in fall term)
  • Recommendation request deadline: April 1

Students proposing to begin a fellowship in a term other than fall term must contact UR to determine the application deadline (which will be TWO TERMS prior to the proposed start of the fellowship).

Note: Students must submit the Senior Fellowship interest form no later than the 6th week of the term, one term prior to the term of application (which would be winter for the standard application cycle)

Students who submit the interest form will be contacted by Undergraduate Research to set up an initial meeting about the program and the application process.  If you have not been contacted within a week of submitting the interest form, email UR.
