Application deadlines
Click on the down arrow next to each program to see the application deadlines. Be sure to check the eligibility criteria for each program as well as the general eligibility criteria before applying. Late applications are not accepted for any program. If you have questions about programs or application processes, contact the relevant program before the application deadline.
URAD (Undergraduate Research Assistantships at Dartmouth)
URAD applications are accepted each term to engage in research in the following term. Applications are due by 11:59pm one week before the last day of classes:
- August 20, 2025 (for fall term research)
- November 11, 2025 (for winter term research)
- March 3, 2026 (for spring term research)
- May 27, 2026 (for summer term research)
Faculty endorsements must be received no later than one week after the student application deadline.
Presidential Scholars
Students are notified of their eligibility for the Presidential Scholars program in winter of sophomore year. Applications are due in spring term of sophomore year.
- If you do not receive an email notifying you of your eligibility, then you are not eligible to apply.
- This is a two term program and both terms must be completed during R terms in the junior year ("sophomore summer" through spring of junior year). If this is not feasible due to scheduling constraints, URAD may be a better option.
Application deadline for eligible students in the class of 2027:
- April 29, 2026 deadline (due by 11:59pm)
- Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason
Faculty endorsements must be received no later than one week after the student application deadline.
Leave term grants
Applications for leave term research grants are accepted in the middle of the term immediately before the research term. See the specific due dates below.
Deadline for the student application (by 11:59pm). Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason.
- July 30, 2025 (for fall term research)
- October 15, 2025 (for winter term research)
- February 4, 2026 (for spring term research)
- April 29, 2026 (for summer term research)
Faculty recommendations must be received no later than one week after the student application deadline (by 11:59pm):
- February 11, 2026 (for spring term research)
- May 6, 2026 (for summer term research)
Honors thesis grants
Applications for honors thesis research grants are accepted in the middle of the term immediately before the research term. See the dates below for the specific deadlines.
Deadline for the student application (by 11:59pm). Late applications will NOT be accepted for any reason.
- February 11, 2026 (for spring term research)
- May 6, 2026 (for summer term research)
Faculty recommendations must be received no later than one week after the student application deadline (by 11:59pm):
- February 18, 2026 (for spring term research)
- May 13, 2026 (for summer term research)
Conference grants
Applications for conference funding are reviewed twice each term:
- Friday of week 5
- Last day of classes
PLAN AHEAD! Review the guidelines and timeline for conference travel grants to ensure that your application will be considered for funding.
Faculty endorsements must be received no later than one week after the student application deadline.
Stamps Scholars
Students apply for the Stamps Scholars program in the winter of sophomore year.
Application deadline: February 15
Mellon Mays Undergraduate Fellowships
Applications for the MMUF program are accepted each year on February 15.
Senior Fellowships
Students apply for the Senior Fellowship TWO TERMS prior to the start of the proposed fellowship. The standard cycle is to apply in spring of junior year for Senior Fellowships to begin in fall of senior year.
- Application deadline: April 15 (to begin a fellowship in fall term)
- Recommendation request deadline: April 1
Students proposing to begin a fellowship in a term other than fall term must contact UGR to determine the application deadline (which will be TWO TERMS prior to the proposed start of the fellowship).
Note: Students must submit the Senior Fellowship interest form no later than the 6th week of the term, one term prior to the term of application (which would be winter for the standard application cycle)
Students who submit the interest form will be contacted by UGR to set up an initial meeting about the program and the application process. If you have not been contacted within a week of submitting the interest form, email UGR.
