Description: America Reads employs Dartmouth students in the Federal Work-Study Program as in-school tutors and after-school program aides in the Rivendell, Hartford, and Lebanon school districts, providing intensive reading assistance to K-3 students. Tutors may work individually or with small groups of children each week. Through regular reading sessions and creative activities, tutors work to instill a love of reading in children and to equip them with the tools to succeed academically.
Time Commitment: Two two-hour shifts per week (at minimum) for at least one term
Setting: School-based
Group or One-on-One: Some group time, some time spent reading one-on-one in a group setting
Population supported: Youth in grades K-3
Special Requirements for Involvement: You must be eligible for Federal Work-Study
