Immersion Trips

About Immersion Trips

Dive deep into a specific social challenge or geographic locale through a domestic or international trip, supported by weekly workshop in the preceding term.

2026 Winterim Immersion Trip (December 1-10, 2026)

Now in its fifth year, this trip along the Texas-Mexico border engages students in the nuances of immigration policy and asylum-seeking. Lenses we use to examine these issues include race, LGBTQIA+ identities, environmental conservation, geography, community organizing, indigeneity, public health, gentrification, democracy, religion, and art-as-activism.

We ask students/families to cover $500—about 15% of the total per-student cost of the trip. However, cost should not be a barrier to participation. Scholarships are available from the Center for Social Impact.
