Strengthening Educational Access with Dartmouth (SEAD)

Program Details

In Strengthening Educational Access with Dartmouth (SEAD), students work with Upper Valley youth to help them develop habits and skills needed to thrive in high school and succeed in the best college for them. The program serves a cohort of first-generation and/or low-income high school students starting in their sophomore year of high school and continuing into college.

Academic Year Opportunity

Time Commitment: 3-4 hours/week for at least two consecutive terms (fall/winter or winter/spring), during the 2A/3B time slot

Setting: Upper Valley high schools

Group or One-on-One: Group

Population supported: First-generation and/or low-income high school students

Summer Opportunity #1: Paid Summer Staff (open to first-years, juniors, and seniors)

Work with a cohort of 6-8 peers to support first-generation and/or low-income high school students as they immerse in a mini-college experience. Pays $1000 plus room and board.

Time Commitment: One week in the summer (June-July)

Summer Opportunity #2: Sophomore Summer Mentor 

This volunteer position is for current sophomores or other students taking classes. In this opportunity to support high school students in their college aspiration and preparation in workshops over the course of a week during summer term.
