Social Impact Non-profit Consulting (SINC)

About the program

Founded in 2019, SINC is Dartmouth's first mission-driven consulting group. We aim to support local social sector organizations to maximize their impact in the communities they serve. We hope to leverage our passion and skills to establish a learning community where students gain hands-on experience at the intersection of strategy and community-engaged social impact.

  • SINC runs during Fall, Winter, and Spring terms. Consultants should participate in a project at least 2 terms per academic year.
  • Expect to commit ~2 hours weekly to SINC for team meetings, regular client communication, independent research, and project development, as well as two required dinner workshops per term.
  • SINC teams are led by a team lead and supported by an experienced SINC Core Team member as well as a DCSI program manager.

What's a Case?

Each case or project is a challenge faced by a local Upper Valley organization that you offer your best recommendations to based on the available evidence.

You will:

  • Map out the problem, identify what matters
  • Quantify assumptions, reasoning, and results
  • Work with your client/partner to ensure feasibility and fit with the community partner's needs
  • Propose and prototype practical solutions and resources

Past example

Client: WISE

Goal: To expand access and advocacy for non-English speakers in the Upper Valley to sexual assault support by determining in what other languages, on what kinds of platforms, and in what kinds of formats survivor support content should be developed next.

Application & Selection Process

Applications opening soon!

  • Monday, October 6 at 3pm: Applications due

Partner Quote - Upper Valley Trails Alliance

"Thank you so much for the presentation... You gave us enough to think about that we followed the presentation with an impromptu brainstorming staff meeting immediately afterwards thinking through some of your ideas/proposals... your recommendations acknowledged many of our challenges, and make a lot of sense -- your perspective helped and you have us thinking."

Development Director
