About Us
Founded in 1996, the New Hampshire/ Vermont Albert Schweitzer Fellowship is one of thirteen currently active Schweitzer program sites across the U.S. dedicated to developing a pipeline of emerging professionals who enter the workforce with the skills and commitment necessary to address unmet health needs. NH/ VT Schweitzer Fellows are competitively chosen from graduate health professional and law students enrolled at institutions in New Hampshire and Vermont. They come from a variety of academic disciplines and, as Schweitzer Fellows, they work tirelessly to address existing health disparities throughout the region.
More than 350 Schweitzer Fellows have provided over 50,000 hours of service to New Hampshire and Vermont's most under-resourced communities. Partnering with area community-based organizations, these Fellows have addressed a wide variety of unmet health needs by creating and carrying out yearlong projects with direct service at their core.
The NH-VT Schweitzer Fellows program is supported by a Community Advisory Board funded entirely on partnerships, grants, and charitable contributions from people like you to fulfill our mission of helping the next generation of professionals address health disparities in communities throughout New Hampshire and Vermont.
We are grateful to our funding partners without whom this important and inspiring work would not be possible. Make a gift, make a difference!
