Gene Therapy Trial Principal Investigator, Erica McAuliffe Esrick '98

WISP alumna Erica McAuliffe Esrick '98, is a principal investigator on a gene therapy trial to cure sickle cell disease. She is a physician at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. 

Helen Obando is the youngest person ever to get a gene therapy that scientists hope will cure the disease, which afflicts 100,000 Americans. At 16, She's a pioneer in the fight to cure sickle cell disease. Erica McAuliffe Esrick '98, former WISP student, is a principal investigator on a gene therapy trial to cure sickle cell disease. She is a physician at Dana-Farber/Boston Children's Cancer and Blood Disorders Center. She worked with Dr. David Roberts, a neurosurgeon at DHMC, on her poster, Adaptation of an electromagnetic digitizer for intraoperative neurosurgical guidance.
