Lee's path to the Dartmouth Center for Social Impact (DCSI) was formed by a commitment to liberal arts education for holistic growth, and a passion for supporting educators in developing meaningful, student-centered learning experiences. He is delighted to join the DCSI, to partner with Upper Valley organizations, and to work with Dartmouth students as they prepare to become social impact leaders.
At the DCSI, Lee will focus on programs integrated with the Dartmouth curriculum, including Social Impact Practicums, and oversee the Center's Leadership programming.
Prior to coming to Dartmouth, Lee was Professor of Philosophy and Director of the Faculty Center at Franklin & Marshall College (F&M). Educated at Yale University (BA, Philosophy) and The Ohio State University (Ph.D., Philosophy), his scholarship and teaching centered on Ancient Greek Philosophy – Plato's metaphysics and epistemology especially – and Philosophy of Education. At the F&M Faculty Center, he developed programming to support inclusive and active learning pedagogies, with an emphasis on Experiential and Community Engaged Learning. While at F&M, he developed PHI @ McCaskey, a project in which F&M students prepared and then facilitated philosophical discussions with students at Lancaster PA's McCaskey High, a Title 1, majority-minority school featuring a large population of refugee students.
In his free time, Lee enjoys hiking with family and friends, including Milo the Newfiedoodle, cycling, skiing, baking, and perfecting the art of the dad joke (much to the delight of his wife, Marci, and daughters, Sonya and Dahlia). Once an avid Ultimate player, he might just drop everything for a toss on the Green.
