Alejandro H. Cruz '04

Alejandro is an attorney at Patterson Belknap Webb & Tyler in New York City.  He represents clients in complex commercial litigation in trial and appellate courts, as well as in arbitrations, mediations, and government investigations.  Alejandro also maintains an active pro bono practice, including federal civil rights cases, housing disputes, disability discrimination actions, and claims related to religious land use and the First Amendment.  In 2016, Alejandro received the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project's Champion of Justice Award for his commitment to pro bono service.  Alejandro received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 2009 and served as a law clerk to the Hon. Eric N. Vitaliano of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York from 2011 to 2012.

During his time as an undergraduate at Dartmouth, Alejandro was active in the Dartmouth Mountaineering Club, for which he served as co-president, and was a violinist in the Dartmouth Symphony Orchestra.  He also served as a student director of the S.E.A.D. Program in 2003.  Alejandro lives outside New York City with his wife Jen ('04) and their two children.
