Janice Williams, Director of Career & Life Design Coaching at the Dartmouth Center for Career Design, leads a team dedicated to embedding personalized, design-thinking-based career coaching into the student experience. With over 20 years of experience in higher education, including roles at Dartmouth, Williams College, and The University of Texas at Austin, Janice brings a student-centered, equity-driven approach to career development and life design. She holds two Master's degrees from UT Austin—one in Human Dimensions of Organizations and the other in Higher Education Leadership—and completed the Stanford Life Design Lab training for university educators in 2024.
A proud first-generation, low-income (FGLI) Dartmouth alumna, Janice previously served as the Associate Director of Dartmouth's First-Generation Office (FGO), where she designed and led the Prepare to Launch (P2L) Program, providing coaching, mentorship, and industry connections to hundreds of first-generation students. Her work applied design-thinking principles and CliftonStrengths to help students create intentional career paths aligned with their values. Prior to that, she was the Assistant Dean for Senior Students at Williams College, advising first-generation seniors on academic and post-graduate success. She also directed a nationally recognized student success program at UT Austin and worked at Google, where she recruited top engineering talent—experience that continues to inform her approach in helping students articulate their strengths and secure meaningful opportunities.
In her new role at Center for Career Design, Janice is excited to guide students through the process of designing careers and lives of purpose, clarity, and impact, empowering them to embrace the journey of creating lives they love.
