Student Scientists Win Goldwater Scholarships

[more]Last month, Jonathan Pedde ’14 and Joseph Singh ’14 were named Dartmouth’s 74th and 75th Rhodes Scholars. Established in 1903 through the will of British philanthropist Cecil Rhodes, the scholarship pays all expenses for a graduate program at the University of Oxford in England. A class of 83 scholars is selected each year from across the globe.
[more]Joseph Singh ’14, of Toronto, Ontario, and Jonathan Pedde ’14, of Regina, Saskatchewan, have been named Rhodes Scholars for 2014. The two are Dartmouth’s 74th and 75th Rhodes Scholars. The Rhodes Scholarship, the oldest and best-known award for international study, is widely considered to be the most prestigious postgraduate academic award available to college graduates.
[more]A number of Dartmouth students and alumni will spend the next year teaching or researching abroad as recipients of prestigious Fulbright Scholarships. “On behalf of Scholarship Advising and the faculty Committee on Graduate Fellowships, we are excited to support the experiences and work abroad of our very talented students and alumni,” says Kristin O’Rourke, assistant dean for scholarship advising. “We feel sure that they will benefit greatly from this experience abroad as they move on in their post-graduate plans.”
[more]Celeste Winston ’14 has been named one of 20 Beinecke Scholars for 2013. While that is high praise, it is no higher than the praise bestowed by her mentor, Richard Wright, the Orvil Dryfoos Professor of Geography and Public Affairs. “She’s among the best students I’ve worked with in 28 years of teaching at Dartmouth,” says Wright.
