The Beading/Crafting Circle was established during the winter of 2018. The purpose of Beading/Crafting Circle is to teach various styles and techniques of beading, sewing, and other Indigenous crafts. Beading/crafting circle aims to make Indigenous craftsmanship more accessible to the Native community at Dartmouth and cultivate a space for Indigenous students to share their own cultural crafting practices from home with others. Past workshops have included peyote stitch keychains, ribbon skirt making, looming, applique earrings, etc. Beading/crafting circle allows for Native students to be in touch with their traditions and stay grounded while navigating the tumultuous academic rigor at Dartmouth.
