Winter Carnival Council

Join the planning council for the Dartmouth Winter Carnival. We are seeking students to serve on the Winter Carnival Council as both members and chairs.

About the Council

We are seeking students to serve on the Winter Carnival Council as both members and chairs. The council selects the theme and winning poster and t-shirt designs, and plans and participates in all Winter Carnival events, which include the Opening Celebration, Polar Bear Swim, 99-Cent Ski Day, Human Dog Sled Races, and Ice Sculpture Contest.

Requirements

  • All council members must attend three (3) meetings in Fall Term (unless on an off-term).
  • Must attend weekly meetings starting in Winter Term until the Carnival in February.
  • Available to attend all Winter Carnival events.
  • Must be in good standing with the College.
  • Must be excited to plan Winter Carnival!

Application and Timeline

Our online application form will be posted in the fall term.

Initial planning meetings will be scheduled for October/early November.

Council Chairs

Winter Carnival Council Chairs take on a major leadership role in the planning & execution of Winter Carnival.

Requirements

Chairs will be selected from within the Council during the Fall term. Chairs must meet the requirements of the general council as well as a few additional requirements listed below:

  • Council Chairs must be sophomores or above.
  • At least one Chair must be present at weekly administrative meetings, hosted in Collis on Thursdays at 3 p.m. in Winter term.
  • Must attend three (3) Chair meetings in Fall term.
