Kate Leach, Ph.D.

Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Students

Kate has been at Dartmouth since 2021. She enjoys moving with the class on their Dartmouth journey and supporting students in their academic and personal development from matriculation through graduation.  Kate earned a Ph.D. in Celtic Languages and Literatures from Harvard, with a focus on medieval Wales. As a graduate student and later visiting scholar at Harvard, she taught courses in the Department of Celtic Languages and Literatures as well as in the Program in Folklore & Mythology, where she enjoyed guiding students through the study of language, literature, and cultural traditions. In addition to her academic work, Kate contributed extensively to residential life at Harvard. She served as a Resident Tutor and academic advisor in Pforzheimer House and later as Interim Allston Burr Resident Dean at Quincy House. In those roles, she advised and mentored undergraduates on both academic and personal matters. At Dartmouth, Kate brings together her passion for teaching, advising, and student support to foster an environment where undergraduates can thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Outside of her work, Kate loves traveling, reading, and saying "yes" to learning or trying fun, unexpected things—from quirky museums or town festivals to new hobbies. She also loves exploring the forests, mountains, and lakes of Vermont and New Hampshire.
