EXPLORE DARTMOUTH OUTDOORS

Celebrate winter with the Outdoor Programs Office! Whether you're interested in trying a new winter activity or simply deeply breathing fresh air, there's plenty of opportunities to explore and enjoy. Opportunities include things you can do on your own such as sledding, snowshoe hiking, and ice skating as well as programs like winter naturalist classes and cross-country ski lessons led by Outdoor Programs Office staff.

Looking for something less active? Stop by the DOC House on the weekends for free hot chocolate and chili!

Equipment available to rent includes:

  • Cross-country ski equipment 
  • Snowshoes
  • Hiking equipment: boots, microspikes, poles, gaiters, and more (available as inventory allows!)
  • Sleds and tubes
  • Ice skates

All activities and equipment are free for Dartmouth students.

LOCATION / HOURS OF OPERATION

  • Dartmouth Outing Club House, operated by the Outdoor Programs Office | 10 Hilton Field Lane
  • Tuesday - Friday | 10:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m.
  • Saturday and Sunday | 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
  • CLOSED Mondays
  • Outdoor opportunities are weather permitting.
  • Trail and pond conditions can be found on the DXC website.

Getting Involved this Winter

Winter Involvement Fair - It is never too late to get involved in a new club or organization. Stop by Common Ground on Saturday, January 7 from 1-3pm to meet with group leaders.

Winter Carnival - this year's theme is "Winter CAAARRRnival: Shiver Me Timbers" and will be held from February 9-12, 2023. There are still a lot of opportunities to help making Winter Carnival happen; email student.involvement@dartmouth.edu for more details.

BemaLights - Want to help plan this outside light show? Email student.involvement@dartmouth.edu to learn how you can get involved. BemaLights this year is February 23-26.

Collis Student Center

From the fire pits to the hot drinks in ONEWheelock, your student center has you covered for winter, inside and out.

Save the date for Collis's Birthday, Wednesday January 11, and make sure to stop by for cupcakes, cider, and more!

If you're looking for a new place to study, hangout with friends, or host an event, Studio Sudikoff will be opening on Monday, January 9 and will be accessible 24/7 via card access. Our newest space will have coffee service, board games, a TV, and convenient study rooms.

And if you want to be involved in helping support the Collis Center, consider joining the Collis Governing Board (CGB)! Stop by the Collis Info Desk or come to a meeting with your ideas.
