Scheduling Exams

Before Scheduling Your Exams

Log into the A11y Student portal to request that Faculty Notification Letters be sent to the instructors of your classes at least seven days in advance of any exam. Discuss with your instructors whether they will administer your exam or if you will take it at the Testing Center, which they need to indicate in the Alternative Testing Contract for your course. If taking your test at the Testing Center, your instructor must complete the Alternative Testing Contract before we can finalize your exam request. The information they provide is to ensure that you receive accommodations appropriate for how the exam is given in the classroom.

Scheduling Exams

Special COVID-19 Note for Fall Term:  Seating in the A11y Testing Center is reduced due to COVID-19 related restrictions. We will do our best to seat all exam requests.

Scheduling

To schedule exams at the A11y Testing Center, you must use the A11y Student Portal. You may ask the Testing Center staff for assistance if needed. Please schedule your exams a minimum of five (5) business days prior to the exam date. (Finals should be scheduled seven, 7, business days in advance.)

Exams scheduled late (see "Late Requests for Exams" header below) will be considered on a case-by-case basis and may not be approved if we do not have space to seat you. If this happens, email your SAS advisor immediately upon learning there is not a seat for you at the Testing Center.

Exam Scheduling Blocks

Exams may be scheduled to start as early as 8:00am and end no later than 4:15pm Monday through Friday.

During finals, exams may be scheduled to start as early as 8:00am and end no later than 7:00pm, which applies Monday to Saturday.

Late Requests for Exams

If you do not schedule your exam at least 5 days in advance (7 days in advance for a final), you will need to submit a Late Exam Request through a11y. When you attempt to schedule your exam in the usual way (by clicking on "Alternative Testing" from your a11y dashboard,  entering the exam/accommodation details, and clicking "submit"), a yellow warning notification will appear with the message "Late Exam Notice - Action Required."

You should still schedule your test right then. Do so by selecting a reason you are scheduling late and include additional information about your late request. This helps us to know how we can best support you to ensure that you schedule future exams in a timely fashion, which, in turn, makes it more likely we'll have a seat for you when the exam is scheduled. Scheduling in a timely fashion also makes the process of taking an exam smoother and less stressful for you, the Testing Center, and your professor.

Canceling or Rescheduling Exams

If you have decided not to take an exam in the A11y Testing Center after you have scheduled it, please log into the A11y Student Portal to cancel it.

If illness or an emergency makes you unable to take your scheduled exam, please cancel your exam request and notify your instructor.

Rescheduling a missed exam is the student's responsibility, but this must be done in collaboration with approval from your instructor.
