Dean Angela R. Brizant (she/her/hers) joined the OPAL team in the fall of 2019. Within OPAL, Angela advises the Black student community. Angela is committed to student development and providing support as students transition through life in academia. Dean Brizant brings over a decade of experience as an educator, counselor, and advocate in both higher education and K-12.
Most recently, Angela served as a Counselor at North Lawndale College Prep, providing academic, social, and emotional support to young scholars. Prior to becoming a counselor, Angela held roles as an Assistant Director of Student Life and Leadership Development at Long Island University, Area Coordinator at Northwestern University, and African-American History and AP Psychology Instructor at Johnson College Prep. Angela earned a BS in Communication, with a concentration in Africana Studies from Cornell University, and a MA in Social Science concentrating in Diversity and Student Affairs from Binghamton University.
