Pride 2026 theme: "Progress Through Pride"

Ever since the first U.S. Pride march in 1970, Pride has always been about celebrating queer and trans identities and advocating for progress in our community. So often in our society, our existences and struggles are pushed away from national attention, and Pride is our retaliation against being cast-away. Pride is our mechanism to subvert harmful controlling narratives of queerness and transness. Being seen, heard, and outspoken are what have led our community to the changes in cultural attitudes and social policies that we may take for granted today. However, we mustn't trivialize these efforts; the political realities of today dictate that our Pride is unfortunately an earned privilege, not an endowed right. We cannot rest. We cannot fold. We must continue this fight today because Pride goes nowhere without an understanding of and reverence for the progress Pride has already made as well as the necessary progress we are actively fighting to create.

For Dartmouth's upcoming Pride celebration, we will be rooting our events in this history of progress and the activist efforts of famed queer and trans elders and their contemporaries—including students! Pride is not something you do, it is something you feel. It is a privilege to have and take the time and space to express our varied and complex emotions toward queerness and the LGBTQIA+ community. As such, our events will honor the growing need for queer reflection, introspection, and catharsis.
Pride events center the LGBTQIA+ community and experiences while remaining open to all members of the Dartmouth community.  Furthermore, in representing the rich and storied history of the LGBTQIA+ community, our events will reflect an intersectional understanding of queerness and transness.

Pride is planned by a student committee, with support from the Office of Pluralism and Leadership. This year's committee was co-chaired by Mischa Telesford '27 and Peter Federici '27.
Each year, an incredible number of partners across campus show their support of Pride by hosting events, contributing financially, or finding other creative ways. We would especially like to thank the Special Programs and Events Committee, Triangle House, DGALA, OPAL's Black and Pan African and Pan Asian Student Advising,  South House, the Leslie Center for the Humanities, and the following Dartmouth Academic Departments for their generous sponsorship of this year's Pride Celebration: African and African American Studies, Anthropology, Computer Science, Film and Media Studies, History, Music, and Sociology.

Pride x HOP: Pillion. hosted by The Hop

pillion.jpeg

Pillion Marketing Ad featuring Alexander Skarsgard and Harry Melling

Thursday, April 30th, 7:30pm
Location: Loew Auditorium

Colin (Harry Melling, from the Harry Potter franchise), a shy young man living with his loving parents, hasn't made the connections he's been looking for in the gay bar scene. When he crosses paths with Ray (Alexander Skarsgård), a charismatic leather-clad biker, he begins to learn the joys of sexual submission, or what he comes to call "devotion." First-time writer-director Harry Lighton handles the ups and downs of this love story—including a meet-the-parents scene—with impressive economy and elegance.
Lighton adapts Adam Mars-Jones's popular novel Box Hill: A Story of Low Self-Esteem into a sweetly melancholic rites-of-passage-into-manhood story. Premiering at the Telluride Film Festival, this endearing film marks the first entry in a new and unexpected genre: the BDSM romantic comedy.
