Current Projects

OPAL Deans work across the institution to remove barriers and address needs related to ethnicity, gender identity or expression, nationality, race, sexuality, first gen identity, sex, and socioeconomic status.

T/GI Project

The Trans/Gender-Inclusivity Project is a multi-office and cross-divisional collaborative endeavor to increase transgender, non-binary, and/or gender variant students’ matriculation quality. Our efforts are directed at four key areas: visibility and awareness; name and gender self-determination; resources and services; and, access to campus facilities.

Barrier Removal

This project is a cross-departmental initiative to remove or reduce administrative, cultural, and/or financial obstacles that prevent students from fully participating and benefitting from their Dartmouth experience.

Food Scarcity

There are periods of time in the academic calendar, particularly interims, when dining hall locations and hours are limited or closed and it can be a challenge for students to find affordable and nutritious food within walking distance from the College. OPAL partners with FYSEP and other campus partners to provide students on financial aid with free or reduced meal options during these times.
